Wilkinson Co, GA – Man Injured in Gravel Truck Accident on US 441
Wilkinson Co, GA (May 31, 2021) – Troopers with the Georgia State Patrol are investigating a serious wreck that caused a tractor-trailer hauling gravel to overturn on Highway 441 on Friday afternoon, May 28.
Authorities say that a vehicle’s tire blew out, causing a wreck on US 441 around 3:00 p.m. The truck driver, traveling in the same lanes of the roadway, was forced to pull to the left as a result of the collision. The load shifted as a result, causing the truck to turn over and spill gravel on the roadway.
The driver was trapped for nearly two hours while rescue crews worked to free him. He sustained injuries of unknown severity and was transported to an area medical center. His identity, as well as his age, has not been given.
No further details have been released but the investigation continues, and officers say charges may be pending for one of the drivers involved in the accident.
Our thoughts are with the injured victim and his family. We wish for the victim’s full recovery.
