Waverly, GA – Florida Woman Killed in Fatal Truck Crash on I-95
Waverly, GA (July 19, 2021) – At 2 p.m. on Saturday afternoon, July 17, a woman was killed in a fatal truck crash in Waverly.
According to the Georgia State Patrol, the accident happened in the northbound lanes of I-95. Police confirmed that the driver of a semi-truck was traveling in the area when the driver struck a Volkswagen Tiguan. The vehicles continued on into traffic and continued to smash into a Volkswagen Passat, a Chevrolet Tahoe, and a Dodge Dakota. The vehicles involved in the crash were extensively damaged as a result.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other local responders were immediately called to the scene. The driver of the Passat, identified as a 67-year-old woman from Florida, was killed in the accident. There was a total of 17 victims within the other five vehicles who were hospitalized with injuries. Their conditions ranged from minor to severe in nature.
The roadway was blocked in the area for a total of six hours as police worked to clear the scene.
The investigation into the circumstances of the collision continues.
