Valdosta, GA – One Killed in Fatal Pedestrian Accident on Marion St
Valdosta, GA (March 14, 2022) – On Friday night, March 11, one person was killed in a fatal pedestrian accident that took place in Valdosta.
According to Valdosta Police, the accident happened around 9:50 p.m. at 1800 Marion Street. Two pedestrians, identified as a possible mother and son, were walking south on the street when they were suddenly struck by a small dark sedan. The vehicle was traveling north and did not remain at the scene following the collision.
Several responders, including paramedics and fire crews, were called to the scene to help those in need. The pedestrians were identified as a 34-year-old woman and a 2-year-old child. The woman was tragically pronounced dead at the scene, while the child was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
The roadway was blocked in the area of the intersection for a period of time. Police have not said if they caught the driver responsible for the accident.
