Valdosta, GA (November 21, 2022) – A man was killed in a fatal train accident that took place in Valdosta on the morning of Monday, November 21.

According to Valdosta Police, the accident happened at an unknown time on the train tracks near 2000 West Savannah Avenue. Police confirmed that a man was walking in the area when he was suddenly struck by a train due to reasons that are not fully known. The train stopped at the scene following the crash.

Several local Valdosta responders, including paramedics and fire crews, were called to the scene to help those in need. The pedestrian, who has only been identified as an adult male between the years of 25 to 35, was tragically pronounced dead at the scene of the crash due to traumatic injuries. Nobody on the train was hurt.

The area was blocked off for several hours following the accident. This led to delays in train services throughout the early afternoon hours.

No further details have been released but police continue their investigation into the circumstances of the accident at this time.
