Twin City, GA – Three Killed in Fatal Truck Crash at GA-57 & Poplar Ave
Twin City, GA (August 17, 2022) – Three people were killed in a fatal truck accident that took place at an intersection in Twin City on Wednesday morning, August 17.
According to Georgia State Patrol officials, the accident happened at 6 a.m. at the intersection of GA-57 and Poplar Avenue. A van was allegedly traveling north when it was struck by an 18-wheeler in the area due to reasons that are not entirely known. The van was severely damaged as a result of the crash.
Paramedics, fire crews, and several other local responders were called to the scene. Three people, who have not yet been formally identified, were tragically pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. One person was critically injured and rushed to Augusta University Medical Center for treatment.
The roadway was blocked in the area of the intersection for an extended period of time. Police worked to clear the scene so traffic could return to normal.
Police continue their investigation into the circumstances of the accident.
