Toccoa, GA – Injuries Reported in Bicycle Accident at Collins Rd & Big A Rd
Toccoa, GA (October 7, 2022) – One person was injured in a bicycle accident that took place at an intersection in Toccoa on Wednesday evening, October 5.
According to Georgia State Patrol officials, the accident happened around 7:40 p.m. at the intersection of Collins Road and Big A Road. State Patrol officials confirmed that a 44-year-old man was riding on his bicycle in the area when he was suddenly struck by a Ford Explorer that was being operated by a 64-year-old man. The driver of the Explorer was allegedly making a left turn at the intersection at the time.
Paramedics, fire crews, and several other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. The bicyclist sustained injuries and was rushed to Northeast Georgia Medical Center for treatment. Nobody else suffered injuries in the accident.
The roadway was blocked at the intersection for an extended period of time as police worked to clear the scene.
