Suwanee, GA – Update: Six Individuals Killed in Fatal Accident on I-85
Suwanee, GA (April 25, 2021) – Around 7 p.m. on Saturday evening, April 24, a fatal accident occurred on a highway in Suwanee.
Gwinnett County officials confirmed that the accident happened in the northbound lanes of I-85 around the area of I-985. The driver of a large van was traveling in the area when they lost control due to unknown reasons, crashing the vehicle.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were dispatched to the scene. They confirmed that there were approximately 16 people inside the van from a sober living group. Six people were confirmed deceased and several others were seriously injured and taken to local hospitals.
A portion of the highway was shut down for several hours as police cleared the scene.
No further details have been released but the investigation continues.
