Suwanee, GA – Update: Fatal Motorcycle Accident on I-85
Suwanee, GA (June 13, 2021) – On Saturday afternoon, June 12, a fatal motorcycle accident occurred on a highway in Suwanee. The victim has since been identified by police.
According to Gwinnett County officials, the accident happened in the northbound lanes of I-85 around the area of Lawrenceville-Suwanee Road. A 36-year-old Duluth male was riding his motorcycle headed north when he collided with an SUV. The man and his motorcycle were launched into the air, where they crossed the median and landed in the other lane of traffic.
Paramedics and numerous other responders were immediately dispatched to the scene of the crash. The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash due to severe injuries. Five others were hospitalized but are expected to recover.
Due to the severity of the crash, all southbound and numerous northbound lanes of traffic were blocked in the area for some time.
No further details have been released but the investigation remains ongoing.
