Suwanee, GA – One Killed in Fatal Seven-Vehicle Crash on I-85
Suwanee, GA (January 12, 2022) – After 3 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon, January 12, a fatal seven-vehicle crash occurred on a highway in Suwanee.
According to Gwinnett County officials, the accident happened in the northbound lanes of I-85 around the area of McGinnis Ferry Road. Seven vehicles were involved in a chain-reaction collision due to reasons that are still under investigation. In the midst of the accident, a pickup truck struck another vehicle. The accident led to extensive damages to all involved vehicles.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other Suwanee responders were immediately called to the scene to help. The passenger in the vehicle that was struck by the pickup truck was pronounced dead at the scene due to severe injuries. It is not known if anyone else was injured in the collision.
Due to the severity of the accident, four lanes of traffic were blocked in the area for some time. Police urged those in the area to use alternate routes until the scene was cleared.
Gwinnett Police will be bringing charges.
No further details have been released. The investigation into the circumstances of the collision continues.
