Suwanee, GA – Man Killed in Truck Accident on I-85 at Lawrenceville-Suwanee Rd
Suwanee, GA (March 22, 2022) – Around 1:00 p.m. on Monday afternoon, March 21, a deadly truck accident occurred in Suwanee.
Officers with the Suwanee Police Department, along with Gwinnett County Fire, responded to the deadly crash and car fire on Interstate 85 northbound, close to the exit ramp to Lawrenceville-Suwanee Road, at approximately 1:30 p.m.
Upon their arrival, police discovered that a tractor-trailer and a van collided. Firefighters also worked to extinguish a can fire that broke out, while news footage captured photos of a white van seriously damaged by flames.
Despite life-saving measures performed by medics, a 32-year-old Buford man reportedly died at the scene. It’s unclear if any other injuries occurred in the incident.
Traffic was backed up as far south as Duluth Highway, as all lanes were closed, but cleared up in the early evening hours.
The investigation into the circumstances of the collision continues.
