Sumter Co, GA – Fatal Truck Accident on I-75 at CR 673 Under Investigation
Sumter Co, GA (August 25, 2021) – On Tuesday afternoon, August 24, a man was killed in a fatal truck accident in Sumter County.
The Georgia truck driver was killed in a crash in the early afternoon, which backed up traffic on Interstate 75 in Sumter County.
The man, identified only as a 48-year-old from Preston, was traveling southbound on I-75 and approaching County Road 673 around 12:30 p.m. At that time, another tractor-trailer truck slowed in front of him, according to an accident report from the Georgia State Patrol.
The man lost control as he attempted to slow down, traveled across the centerline, and overturned. He sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.
It’s unclear if any other vehicles or injured victims were involved.
No further details have been released but the investigation remains ongoing.
