Stone Mtn, GA – Head-on Car Accident at Panola Rd & Redan Rd
Stone Mountain, GA (August 18, 2021) – Around 10:30 p.m. on Tuesday night, August 17, a head-on car accident occurred at an intersection in Stone Mountain.
According to DeKalb County Police, the accident happened at the intersection of Panola Road and Redan Road. Several vehicles were sitting at the intersection’s red light when a vehicle was speeding in the area. The driver went through the light and slammed head-on into three vehicles. The accident was so forceful that it led to extensive damages.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. A passenger was ejected from one of the vehicles and multiple other victims needed to be rescued. Four people were taken to the hospital in critical condition. The ejected passenger sustained massive brain trauma due to the crash.
Police did not say if the driver who crashed into the vehicles will be facing any charges. The roadway was blocked in the area for some time.
No further details have been released. The investigation into the accident continues at this time.
