Statesboro, GA – Scooter Accident with Injuries on Fair Rd Near Food World
Statesboro, GA (July 9, 2022) – A soccer player was seriously injured in a scooter accident that took place on a roadway in Statesboro on Saturday morning, July 9.
According to Statesboro Police, the accident happened around 1 a.m. on Fair Road around the area of Food World. A soccer player with Tormenta FC was riding an electric scooter in the area when he was suddenly struck by a passenger vehicle. The driver that struck the player immediately fled the scene without stopping.
Paramedics, fire crews, and several other responders were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The man on the scooter was severely injured and flown to the hospital by medical helicopter for treatment. Nobody else was injured in the accident.
The roadway was blocked in the area of the accident for an extended period of time. Police did not say if they found the driver responsible for the accident.
No further details have been released but the investigation into the accident continues.
