Sparta, GA – Five Injured in Car Crash at GA-22 & Lake Laurel Rd
Sparta, GA (June 14, 2021) – At 1:20 a.m. on the morning of Monday, June 14, a car crash with injuries occurred at an intersection in Sparta.
According to the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office, the accident happened at the intersection of GA-22 and Lake Laurel Road. At the time of the crash, a Chevrolet Suburban was headed west on the highway while a Ford Fusion was making a left turn. The driver of the Chevrolet allegedly fell asleep and struck the Fusion head-on.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were immediately dispatched to the scene to help those in need. Five victims in both of the vehicles were taken to local hospitals for treatment of injuries. Their conditions are not yet known.
The roadway was blocked in several lanes for a period of time after the collision.
No further details have been released but the investigation remains ongoing.
