Snellville, GA – Mother Killed in Fatal Pedestrian Accident on Hewatt Rd
Snellville, GA (July 3, 2022) – On Wednesday, June 29, a mother was killed in a fatal pedestrian accident that took place in Snellville.
According to Gwinnett County Police, the accident happened on Hewatt Road. A woman was leaving an Uber with her child that was parked on the side of the road. She started to cross the street with her daughter but she was struck by a vehicle that was traveling westbound. The child was not struck in the accident. The driver who struck the pedestrian stopped and remained at the scene.
Several local responders, including paramedics and fire crews, were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The mother, who has not yet been formally identified, was tragically pronounced dead at the scene due to her injuries. Nobody else sustained injuries in the accident.
Due to the severity of the accident, a large portion of the roadway was blocked in the area for some time.
The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues.
