Snellville, GA – Fatal Motorcycle Crash at Stone Mtn Hwy & Parkwood Rd
Snellville, GA (September 27, 2021) – At 5 p.m. on the evening of Friday, September 25, a fatal motorcycle crash occurred at an intersection in Snellville.
According to Gwinnett Police, the accident happened at the intersection of Stone Mountain Highway and Parkwood Road. A 27-year-old man from Lawrenceville was traveling west in the area when a dark SUV made a U-turn in front of the rider. The motorcyclist attempted to avoid the collision but was unable to do so. This caused the motorcyclist to forcefully crash.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were immediately dispatched to the scene. The motorcyclist was severely injured in the accident. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the SUV, identified only as a man in his 30s, got out of his vehicle and approached the scene. He then drove off without calling the police.
The roadway was blocked in the area for an extended period of time. Police have not yet said if they found the driver responsible for the accident.
The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues.
