Smyrna, GA – Officer Injured in Rear-End Collision on I-75
Smyrna, GA (April 11, 2022) – On Saturday night, April 9, an officer was injured in a rear-end collision that took place on a highway in Smyrna.
According to the Smyrna Police Department, the accident happened on I-75. An officer was driving home on Saturday night when he pulled over on the side of the road so that he could help a stranded motorist. The Smyrna officer, who has his emergency lights on, called for additional units to the scene. While he was doing so, another vehicle slammed into the rear of the patrol cruiser. Both vehicles sustained immense damages in the collision.
Paramedics, fire crews, and several other local responders were immediately dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The officer, who has not yet been formally identified, was seriously injured in the collision.
The roadway was blocked in the area for an extended period of time. Police quickly worked to clear the scene.
