Sharpsburg, GA – Multi-Vehicle Collision on I-85 Near Collinsworth Rd
Sharpsburg, GA (December 7, 2021) – At 4:39 p.m. on the afternoon of Tuesday, December 7, a multi-vehicle collision occurred on a highway in Sharpsburg.
According to Coweta County officials, the accident happened in the southbound lanes of I-85 around the area of Collinsworth Road. Two or more vehicles were traveling in the area when they suddenly collided due to reasons that are not fully known. The vehicles involved in the accident were badly damaged as a result.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. Several people sustained injuries as a result of the accident. The injured parties were taken to local hospitals for treatment of their injuries.
Due to the severity of the accident, two right lanes of traffic were blocked for some time. Police urged those in the area to use Highway 29 as an alternate route.
No further details have been released but the investigation remains ongoing.
