Savannah, GA – Two Killed in Fatal Pedestrian Crash on Abercorn St

7/13 Columbus, GA – Man Killed in Fatal Pedestrian Crash on Veterans Pkwy

Savannah, GA (December 19, 2021) – On Sunday, December 19, a fatal pedestrian crash occurred on a roadway in Savannah.

According to Savannah Police, the accident happened on Abercorn Street around the area of Janet Drive. Two 67-year-old men were walking in the area when they started to cross the street at the intersection. Suddenly, they were struck by a Jeep Cherokee that was headed south. The driver, identified as a 30-year-old man, did not stop at the scene.

Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. The two men were pronounced dead at the scene as a result of traumatic injuries. Nobody else was hurt in the accident.

The driver was later discovered by police. He has since been charged with hit-and-run, as well as DUI.

Due to the severity of the accident, the roadway was blocked in the area for an extended period of time.

No further details have been released. The investigation into the circumstances of the collision continues.
