9/14 Savannah, GA – Two Injured in Workplace Explosion on Mills B Ln

Savannah, GA (September 14, 2021) – At 9:14 a.m. on Tuesday morning, September 14, a workplace explosion injured two people in Savannah.

According to Savannah Police, the accident happened at the Derst Baking Company at 1300 Mills B. Lane. An explosion happened in the flour mixing room due to reasons that are not yet known. The explosion was so forceful that it blasted a hole in a nearby wall. Fire crews worked to get the scene under control.

Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were called to the scene. Two employees were injured as a result of the explosion. Their conditions are not yet known but they are expected to be okay.

The workplace was closed down for the remainder of the day until fire crews got the scene under control.

No further details have been released. The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues at this time.
