Savannah, GA – Serious Hit-and-Run Accident at Wheaton St & Cedar St
Savannah, GA (April 28, 2021) – Around 9 p.m. on Tuesday night, April 27, a serious hit-and-run accident happened at a Savannah intersection.
According to the Savannah Police Department, the accident happened at the intersection of Wheaton Street and Cedar Street. A Buick Regal was attempting to cross the street from a parking lot when it struck a Mercury Mariner traveling in the area. Police confirmed that the driver of the Buick then fled the scene of the accident.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were dispatched to the scene. The passenger in the Buick was taken to the hospital with serious injuries, though their current condition is not yet known. The driver of the Mercury had minor injuries and was also hospitalized.
Police later found the driver of the Buick, identified as a 39-year-old man. He was charged with serious injuries by motor vehicle, hit-and-run with injuries, DUI, and failing to yield.
The investigation into the circumstances of the crash continues.
