Savannah, GA – Serious Bicycle Accident with Injuries on Bay St
Savannah, GA (December 17, 2021) – Around 12:45 a.m. on Friday morning, December 17, a bicycle accident occurred on a roadway in Savannah.
According to Savannah Police, the accident happened on Bay Street. A bicyclist was traveling across the roadway in front of a vehicle and the vehicle was unable to stop in time. The vehicle then struck the shoulder of the road and overturned. Another vehicle traveling in the area then struck that vehicle.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. The driver of the second involved vehicle was injured and taken to the hospital for treatment of their injuries. The bicyclist, identified as a 38-year-old man, remained at the scene. It is not known what injuries he sustained.
Due to the severity of the accident, the roadway was blocked in the area for an extended period of time.
No further details have been released but the investigation remains ongoing.
