Savannah, GA – Rollover Police Cruiser Accident at Whitaker St & 43rd St
Savannah, GA (September 11, 2022) – Around 7 p.m. on the evening of Tuesday, September 6, a police cruiser was involved in a rollover accident in Savannah that led to injuries.
According to Savannah Police Department officials, the accident happened at the intersection of Whitaker Street and 43rdStreet. Police confirmed that a driver was traveling in the area when they struck a Savannah Police Department cruiser, causing the cruiser to overturn. The driver and passenger inside the other vehicle immediately fled the scene without stopping.
Paramedics, fire crews, and several other responders were immediately called to the scene to help those in need. The two officers who were inside the cruiser at the time of the crash sustained injuries in the accident and were taken to local hospitals. Their conditions are not known at this time.
The roadway was blocked in the area of the intersection until police cleared the scene. Police did not say if they found the driver or passenger inside the vehicle that caused the accident.
No further details have been released but the investigation into the accident continues. Police continue their investigation into the circumstances of the accident at this time.
