Savannah, GA – Hit-and-Run Accident with Injuries on Mohawk St
Savannah, GA (May 6, 2021) – Around 5:10 p.m. on Wednesday evening, May 5, a hit-and-run accident occurred on a roadway in Savannah.
According to the Savannah Police Department, the accident happened on Mohawk Street. At the time, a Ford F-150 was making a left turn in the area when it was struck by a Mercedes that was traveling through the area at a high rate of speed. The impact was so forceful that the Ford was left spinning in the road.
Police confirmed that the driver of the Mercedes got out of the vehicle and left the scene on foot. They did not say if he was caught for his role in the accident.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were dispatched to the scene. The passenger of the Mercedes, identified as a 26-year-old woman, was taken to the hospital for treatment of serious injuries.
The roadway was blocked in the area for a period of time.
No further details have been released but the investigation continues.
