Savannah, GA – Five Injured in Head-on Collision with Dump Truck on Abercorn St
Savannah, GA (January 13, 2023) – Five people sustained injuries in a head-on collision involving a dump truck and a firetruck that took place in Savannah on Wednesday morning, January 11.
According to Savannah Police, the accident happened around 10:15 a.m. at the intersection of Abercorn Street and Gateway Boulevard. Police confirmed that Chatham Fire Engine 3 was traveling in the area when it became involved in a head-on collision with a dump truck due to reasons that are not entirely known. Both vehicles were badly damaged as a result of the accident.
Paramedics, fire crews, and several other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. A total of five patients sustained injuries as a result of the accident. They were taken to local hospitals for treatment, though their conditions are not entirely known at this time.
The roadway was blocked in all westbound lanes of traffic for a period of time. Police worked to clear the scene as quickly as possible.
