Savannah, GA – Car Accident at W Victory Dr & Barnard St
Savannah, GA (June 16, 2021) – Around midnight on Wednesday morning, June 16, a car accident with injuries happened at an intersection in Savannah.
According to the Savannah Police Department, the accident happened at the intersection of West Victory Drive and Barnard Street. Officers initially started a traffic stop in the area. A 25-year-old man in a Buick sedan fled from officers at high speeds, which is when the driver ran through the red light at the intersection. The Buick struck the side of a red sedan. The sedan went through all lanes of traffic and hit a SCAD building in the area.
Paramedics and numerous other responders were called to the scene. The driver of the first vehicle, as well as a 3-year-old passenger, were injured in the accident and taken to a local hospital. The driver of the red vehicle was also taken to the hospital with serious injuries but is expected to recover.
The driver of the first vehicle was charged with eluding police, reckless driving, serious injury by vehicle, driving too fast for conditions, and more.
Police continue their investigation into the circumstances of the collision.
