Sandy Springs, GA (August 11, 2021) – At 8:17 a.m. on the morning of Wednesday, August 11, a tractor-trailer accident and fire occurred in Sandy Springs.

According to local officials, the accident happened in the eastbound lanes of I-285 around the area of exit 22, New Northside Drive. A tractor-trailer was traveling in the area when it was involved in a forceful collision with one or more other vehicles. The accident led to extensive damages to the involved vehicles.

Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. One or more victims were injured as a result of the accident. The injured parties were taken to the hospital in unknown condition.

Police issued a red alert in the area until the scene was cleared. All lanes were blocked and police urged those in the area to avoid the scene.

The investigation into the circumstances of the collision continues.
