Sandersville, GA – One Injured in Bicycle Accident on GA-242
Sandersville, GA (August 2, 2021) – On Sunday morning, August 1, a bicycle accident with injuries occurred in Sandersville.
According to Georgia State Patrol officials, the accident happened on GA-242. A Nissan pickup truck was pulling a camper in the same direction as a bicyclist on GA-242. The Nissan tried to pass the bicycle on the left but did not leave enough clearance, causing it to strike a portion of the bicycle handlebar. This knocked the cyclist off onto the ground.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were dispatched to the scene. The bicyclist, who has only been identified as a male driver, was seriously injured and sustained a head injury. His current condition is not yet known.
The roadway was blocked in the area for an extended period of time.
The investigation into the circumstances of the collision continues.
