Rutledge, GA – 15 Injured in Truck Accident in WB Lanes of I-20
Rutledge, GA (November 26, 2021) – At 10:45 a.m. on the morning of Wednesday, November 24, a truck accident occurred in Rutledge that landed numerous victims in the hospital.
According to Monroe officials, the accident happened in the westbound lanes of I-20 around the area of the Monroe and Monticello exit. A tractor-trailer was driving in the area when the driver noticed that traffic was slowing down quickly.
The truck swerved to avoid traffic when it struck a black Chevrolet Tahoe in the left lane. It then swerved a second time and struck a black Jeep, which caused it to strike a funeral home-owned Chrysler and a tan Chevrolet Tahoe. The Chevrolet then struck a Toyota Camry and a Honda Odyssey van. The tractor-trailer overturned and lost its load in the median.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. A total of 15 people were hurt in the accident, though they are all expected to be okay.
Police confirmed that charges are pending in the case. The roadway was fully blocked in the area until approximately 2:30 p.m.
