Roswell, GA – Officer Injured in Rear-End Collision on GA-400
Roswell, GA (May 4, 2022) – On Tuesday, May 3, an officer was hurt in a rear-end collision that took place on a highway in Roswell.
According to the Roswell Police Department, the accident happened at night and involved one of their officers. The officer was working on directing traffic around a construction zone on GA-400. The officer was sitting inside their car when the driver of a Honda Civic suddenly came through the area, slamming into the back of the patrol cruiser. The officer also had a K-9 inside the vehicle at the time. The back of the cruiser was smashed in as a result of the accident.
Several emergency departments were called to the scene to help those in need. Both the officer and the K-9 sustained injuries as a result of the accident. However, they are expected to fully recover from these injuries.
Police confirmed that there were multiple law enforcement vehicles in the area at the time with their blue lights activated. They are unsure how the driver of the Civic did not see them until it was too late.
The roadway was blocked in several lanes until the scene was cleared.
No further details have been released but police continue their investigation into the accident.
