Rome, GA – Woman Killed in Fatal Single-Vehicle Crash on Rome Bypass
Rome, GA (December 27, 2021) – At 9:54 a.m. on Sunday morning, December 26, a woman was killed in a fatal single-vehicle crash in Rome.
According to officials, the accident happened on the Rome Bypass around the area of Black Bluff Road. A couple was traveling inside a vehicle that was part of a group that was hunting in the morning hours. The Toyota pickup truck was traveling south on the highway when the vehicle suddenly left the side of the road due to reasons that are not yet known. The driver attempted to correct the vehicle but this caused it to overturn. Both the driver and the passenger inside the vehicle were ejected.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. The passenger inside the vehicle, identified as a 28-year-old woman from Rockmart, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the vehicle was identified as a 31-year-old man from Rockmart who was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries.
No further details have been released but the investigation remains ongoing.
