Rome, GA – Passenger Killed in Fatal Accident on Livingston Rd
Rome, GA (August 29, 2021) – On Monday, a passenger was killed in a fatal accident that happened on a roadway in Rome.
According to Floyd County Police, the accident happened on Livingston Road. A 62-year-old man from Alabama was driving his Ford F-150 when his vehicle went off the side of the road and struck a tree. The vehicle was left with extensive damages as a result of the accident.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. A passenger in the vehicle, identified as a 60-year-old woman from Gaylesville, was pronounced dead at the scene as a result of traumatic injuries.
The driver of the pickup truck was arrested for felony first-degree vehicular homicide, DUI, having an open container, and failing to maintain his lane.
The roadway was blocked in the area for an extended period of time as police cleared the scene.
No further details have been released but the investigation remains ongoing.
