Ringgold, GA – Trooper Seriously Injured in a Car Accident on I-75
Ringgold, GA (November 4, 2021) – Around 1 a.m. on the morning of Thursday, November 4, a trooper was injured in a car accident in Ringgold.
According to Georgia State Patrol officials, the accident happened in the northbound lanes of I-75 around the area of mile marker 345. A trooper noticed a white Mercedes SUV speeding on the highway and attempted to initiate a stop. However, the driver sped up, starting a pursuit on the highway. The trooper attempted to evade the vehicle at one point so that the two vehicles would not collide, causing the vehicle to strike a tree.
Paramedics and numerous other responders were immediately dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The trooper was seriously injured and was taken to Erlanger Medical Center for treatment, though their current condition is not yet known. The driver of the other vehicle was not identified.
The roadway was blocked in the area for an extended period of time as police cleared the scene.
No further details have been released but the investigation remains ongoing.
