Riceboro, GA – One Killed in Fatal Tractor-Trailer Accident on I-95
Riceboro, GA (February 2, 2022) – One person was killed in a fatal tractor-trailer accident that took place on a major roadway in Riceboro on Tuesday afternoon, February 1.
According to Georgia State Patrol officials, the accident happened on I-95 around the area of mile marker 71. Police confirmed that one tractor-trailer was resting on the shoulder in the area when it was suddenly struck in the rear by another tractor-trailer due to reasons that are not yet known. The accident was so forceful that the tractor-trailer in the front was moved several feet. Both tractor-trailers were extensively damaged, sending debris all over the road.
Several responders, including paramedics and fire crews, were immediately dispatched to the scene to help those in need. One of the victims, identified as a 43-year-old woman, was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. A 64-year-old male driver in another tractor-trailer was pronounced dead at the scene due to traumatic injuries.
The roadway was blocked in several lanes of traffic for a period of time as police worked to clear the scene. There was a fuel leak in the area, which also led to delays in the area until it was cleared.
