Riceboro, GA – Major Tractor-Trailer Crash with Injuries on I-95
Riceboro, GA (April 3, 2023) – At 3 a.m. on Monday, April 3, several people sustained injuries in a tractor-trailer accident that happened in Riceboro.
According to Georgia State Patrol officials, the accident happened in the northbound lanes of I-95 around the area of mile marker 64. Police confirmed that a driver was in a Subaru Crosstrek and was traveling in the wrong lane when they suddenly collided with a van with 12 passengers inside it. A tractor-trailer was also involved in the collision, which flipped over in the southbound lane of traffic.
Several local responders, including Riceboro paramedics and fire crews, were immediately dispatched to the scene. It was determined that several parties were hurt in the collision. One of the victims sustained severe injuries and was taken to the hospital by medical helicopter. Several other passengers were taken to Memorial Health University Medical Center for treatment.
Police confirmed that the driver of the Subaru who caused the accident was also hospitalized. They have since been charged for their role in the accident, though these charges are not yet known.
The roadway was blocked in the area for a period of time.
