Pedestrian Accidents in Georgia
Walking is a common mode of transportation for many people in Georgia each year. Drivers are expected to watch out for the safety of pedestrians at all times. However, this does not always occur and many individuals are seriously impacted by pedestrian accidents each year. In fact, hundreds of individuals actually lose their lives in these accidents every year in Georgia. In 2020, statistics showed that approximately 273 lives were taken in pedestrian accidents, which was a 14% increase from the year before. If you have lost a loved one in a pedestrian accident, you and your family should seek the immediate help of a legal advocate.
The loss of a loved one is a reality that far too many families face each year in pedestrian accidents. Moving forward with a wrongful death claim is never an easy thing to do, as these claims can be complex in nature. On top of this, only a few select parties can bring a wrongful death claim. These include the following:
- The parents of the decedent
- Their spouse
- Their child
- A personal representative of the decedent’s estate
