Powder Springs, GA – Fatal DUI Accident Takes One Life on Macland Rd
Powder Springs, GA (April 6, 2021) – Around 2:20 a.m. on Saturday morning, April 3, a fatal DUI accident occurred on a roadway in Powder Springs.
At the time, a 50-year-old employee for the Marietta Daily Journal was driving his Dodge Grand Caravan on Macland Road. At the same time, a 40-year-old was traveling behind his van in a silver Ford F-150.
Due to reasons that are not yet known, the driver of the Ford lost control and slammed into the back of the van. The collision was so forceful that the Caravan flipped over onto its roof.
Paramedics and numerous other responders were present at the scene. The 50-year-old van driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Ford was hospitalized but has since been arrested for DUI and vehicular homicide charges. He has since been taken to the Cobb County Adult Detention Center.
The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues.
