Pendergrass, GA – Fatal Tractor-Trailer Accident in SB Lanes of I-85
Pendergrass, GA (September 29, 2021) – Around 11 a.m. on Wednesday morning, September 29, a fatal tractor-trailer accident occurred in Pendergrass.
According to Jackson County officials, the accident happened in the southbound lanes of I-85 around the area of Dry Pond Road. Three vehicles, including a tractor-trailer, collided with each other in the area due to unknown reasons. The vehicles involved in the accident were extensively damaged and had to be towed from the scene.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. One person, who has not yet been identified, was traumatically injured and pronounced dead at the scene. It is not known if anyone else was injured in the accident.
Due to the severity of the crash, the roadway was blocked for several hours as police worked to clear the scene.
The investigation into the circumstances of the accident remains ongoing.
