Oxford, GA – Daniel Sweat Killed in Fatal Pedestrian Accident on Hwy 81
Oxford, GA (October 21, 2022) – A man was killed in a fatal pedestrian accident that took place on a major roadway in Oxford on Friday morning, October 21.
According to Georgia State Patrol officials, the accident happened on Highway 81. A pedestrian was walking in the area when he started to cross the road in the area and was struck by a pickup truck that was traveling north. The driver of the pickup truck allegedly remained at the scene of the accident.
Paramedics, fire crews, and several other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. The pedestrian, who has since been identified as Daniel Sweat of Oxford, was tragically pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. It is not believed that anyone else was injured in the accident.
The roadway was blocked in the area of the accident for an extended period of time. Police did not say if the driver of the vehicle will be charged or not.
Police continue their investigation into the circumstances of the collision at this time.
