Augusta, GA – Fatal Car Accident on Gordon Hwy Near Thomas Ln
Augusta, GA (November 3, 2022) – Around 5:07 p.m. on the evening of Wednesday, November 2, a woman was killed in a fatal car accident following a vehicle pursuit in Augusta.
According to Richmond County officials, the accident happened on Gordon Highway around the area of Thomas Lane. Police confirmed that they were attempting to stop the driver of a blue Nissan Rogue on a traffic violation that has not yet been revealed. Police started to pursue the driver but the driver of the Rogue collided with two different vehicles at various locations along the way until they came to a stop.
Paramedics, fire crews, and several other local responders were called to the scene to help those in need. One of the occupants inside a struck vehicle was rushed to Augusta University Medical Center ER with severe injuries. The victim was pronounced dead while there. Several other parties were hospitalized with various injuries.
The roadway was blocked in the area of the intersection for a period of time. The driver of the Nissan was arrested by police, though their charges have not yet been revealed.
The investigation into the collision continues at this time. Police will update with more information as it becomes available.
