Athens, GA – Driver Killed in Fatal Rollover Accident on Milledge Ave
Athens, GA (September 2, 2021) – Around 7:19 a.m. on Wednesday morning, September 1, a driver was killed in a fatal rollover accident in Athens.
According to police, the accident happened on Milledge Avenue around the area of the GA Outer Loop 10. A Tahoe and a Taurus were allegedly traveling in the area when they collided with each other forcefully due to unknown reasons. The Tahoe overturned and came to a rest. The vehicles involved in the accident were badly damaged as a result.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were immediately called to the scene. The driver of the Tahoe, identified as a 50-year-old woman, was pronounced dead at the scene due to severe injuries. The driver of the Taurus was injured and hospitalized.
Due to the severity of the accident, the roadway was blocked in the area for a period of time as police cleared the scene.
No further details have been released. The investigation into the accident continues.
