Montezuma, GA – Fatal Pedestrian Crash at Walnut St & Richardson St
Montezuma, GA (February 6, 2022) – One person was killed in a fatal pedestrian crash that took place at a Montezuma intersection on Saturday night, February 5.
According to Montezuma Police, the accident happened around 8 p.m. at the intersection of Walnut Street and Richardson Street. A Nissan Murano was traveling near the intersection while an adult male was walking in the west lane of traffic. The driver did not see him and could not avoid striking him in time. The driver stopped and remained at the scene.
Several responders, including paramedics and fire crews, were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The male pedestrian was severely injured in the collision. He was tragically pronounced dead at the scene by the Macon coroner.
Due to the severity of the accident, Walnut Street was blocked for a temporary amount of time. Police quickly worked to clear the scene.
Georgia State Patrol officials continue their investigation into the circumstances of the collision.
