Montezuma, GA – Fatal Pedestrian Accident on GA-224 Near Shiloh Church Rd
Montezuma, GA (October 10, 2021) – At 1 a.m. on Sunday morning, October 10, a fatal pedestrian accident occurred in Montezuma.
According to Georgia State Patrol, the accident happened on GA-224 around the area of Shiloh Church Road. A 23-year-old male pedestrian was walking in the area of the north shoulder when he was suddenly struck by a Chevrolet Malibu that was driving in the area. The driver allegedly did not see the pedestrian until it was too late.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. The pedestrian was seriously injured and was pronounced dead at the scene due to his injuries.
Georgia State Patrol officials confirmed that the driver remained at the scene. The roadway was blocked in the area for some time.
The investigation into the circumstances of the collision remains ongoing.
