Monroe, GA – Update: Fatal Car Accident at Pannell Rd & Vine St
Monroe, GA (July 1, 2021) – At 4:56 p.m. on the afternoon of Wednesday, June 30, a fatal car accident occurred at an intersection in Monroe.
According to the Monroe Police Department, the accident happened at the intersection of Pannell Road and Vine Street. Police confirmed that a 39-year-old woman was driving a Mercedes van in the area and stopped at the intersection’s stop sign. At the same time, a 57-year-old man in a Ford was traveling south on Pannell. The vehicles entered the intersection at the same time, which caused them to forcefully collide. The Ford overturned several times and then came to a rest.
Paramedics and numerous other responders were called to the scene. The back-seat passenger in the Ford, identified as a 29-year-old woman, was pronounced dead at the scene. Another passenger in the vehicle, identified as a 53-year-old woman, was taken to the hospital, as well as the driver of the Ford.
The driver of the Mercedes is facing charges due to the accident.
