Monroe, GA – Officer Injured in Car Crash at Vine St & Madison Ave
Monroe, GA (July 2, 2022) – An officer was injured in a car accident that took place at an intersection in Monroe on Thursday morning, June 30.
According to Walton County officials, the accident happened around 9:35 a.m. at the intersection of Vine Street and Madison Avenue. A police cruiser was traveling in the area when it was struck by a white SUV due to reasons that are not entirely known. The vehicles sustained severe damages, with the police cruiser flipping onto its hood.
Paramedics, fire crews, and several other responders were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The police officer, as well as the driver of the other vehicle, were both injured in the crash. They were rushed to Piedmont Walton for treatment. One of the victims sustained one or more surgeries but the parties are expected to be okay.
The driver of the SUV was cited for their role in the accident. The roadway was blocked at the intersection for an extended period of time.
No further details have been released but the investigation into the collision continues.
