Monroe, GA – Juvenile Injured in Bicycle Crash at Marble St & Birch St
Monroe, GA (June 14, 2022) – On Tuesday, June 14, a child was injured in a serious bicycle crash that took place at a Monroe intersection.
According to Monroe Police Department officials, the accident happened at the intersection of East Marble Street and Birch Street at an unknown time. Juveniles were riding their bicycles in the area of the intersection. Suddenly, the driver of a passenger vehicle drove up onto the sidewalk where the juveniles were traveling due to reasons that are not yet known. The passenger vehicle struck one of the juveniles on their bike.
Several local responders, including EMS crews, were called to the scene to help those in need. The struck juvenile received injuries in the accident and was hospitalized. They are expected to receive a full recovery.
A portion of the roadway was blocked at the intersection for some time following the collision. It is believed that the driver of the passenger vehicle remained at the scene but it is not known if they were charged for their role in the accident.
No further details have been released but the investigation remains ongoing at this time.
