Monroe, GA – DUI Accident with Injuries at Bankers Blvd & W Spring St
Monroe, GA (January 3, 2022) – On Thursday, December 30, a DUI accident that led to injuries occurred at an intersection in Monroe.
Local officials were immediately called to the scene of the crash, which took place at an unknown time at Bankers Boulevard and West Spring Street. Two vehicles were traveling in the area when one of the drivers entered the wrong lane of traffic, colliding with a second vehicle. The vehicles sustained heavy damages as a result of the accident.
Paramedics and numerous other local responders were called to the scene to help those in need. One person in the second vehicle was injured as a result of the accident. They were taken to the hospital for treatment of their injuries.
Police determined that the driver of the first vehicle was intoxicated at the time of the crash. They were arrested on charges of obstruction, DUI, failing to maintain their lane, and driving on the wrong side of the road.
The roadway was blocked in the area of the intersection for some time following the accident.
No further details have been released but police continue their investigation into the accident.
