Midway, GA – Update: Two Killed in Rollover Accident in NB Lanes of I-95
Midway, GA (December 22, 2021) – On Monday morning, December 20, two people were killed in a Midway rollover accident. The parties have since been identified by police.
According to Georgia State Patrol officials, the accident happened in the northbound lanes of I-95 around the area of mile marker 79. A vehicle was headed northbound on the highway when it sustained a tile failure. The driver of the vehicle lost control, causing the vehicle to crash into the median. The vehicle then completely flipped over as a result.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. Two people were pronounced dead at the scene due to their injuries. They have since been identified as a 32-year-old woman and her 16-year-old daughter. Six other people inside the vehicle were transported to Savannah’s Memorial Hospital with injuries but are expected to be okay.
Due to the severity of the accident, the roadway was blocked in the northbound lanes for an extended period of time.
No further details have been released. The investigation into the circumstances of the accident remains ongoing.
