Midway, GA – One Killed in Fatal Accident at Freedman Grove Rd & Leroy Coffer Hwy
Midway, GA (April 14, 2022) – On Tuesday morning, April 12, one person was killed in a fatal accident that took place at an intersection in Midway.
According to Georgia State Patrol officials, the accident happened at the intersection of Freedman Grove Road and Leroy Coffer Highway. A 72-year-old woman was operating a Toyota Corolla in the area when her vehicle collided with a Ford Fusion at the intersection due to reasons that are not yet known. Both vehicles sustained enormous damage as a result of the accident.
Paramedics, fire crews, and several other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. The 72-year-old woman, as well as two passengers in her vehicle, had to be extricated from their vehicle. She was critically injured and rushed to Memorial Health Hospital where she was tragically pronounced dead. Her two passengers, one of which was a 12-year-old boy, sustained serious injuries as a result. Multiple people in the other vehicle also sustained injuries and were hospitalized.
The roadway was blocked in the area of the intersection for a period of time. Police quickly worked to clear the scene.
The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues. Police will update with more information as it becomes available.
