Marietta, GA – One Loses Life in Pedestrian Accident on Cobb Pkwy
Marietta, GA (December 16, 2022) – One person lost their life in a fatal pedestrian accident on a major roadway in Marietta on the morning of Friday, December 16.
According to Marietta Police Department officials, the accident happened around 2:20 a.m. on Cobb Parkway around the area of Polytechnic Lane. Police confirmed that a 36-year-old pedestrian was walking on the right shoulder with another person when they were suddenly struck by a Ford Taurus being operated by an 81-year-old man from Lawrenceville. The driver did not stop immediately following the accident.
Paramedics, fire crews, and several other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. The pedestrian who was struck by the Taurus was tragically pronounced dead at the scene due to traumatic injuries.
Police later found the driver responsible for the accident but said that he was displaying signs of confusion. He was taken to WellStar Kennestone Hospital for a medical evaluation. He has not yet been charged with anything.
The roadway was blocked near the intersection for a period of time.
